CH-02 Propane Handling and Construction Use

Overview

This is a TSSA certified CH-02 Propane Handling safety training for construction and industrial workers.

Our CH-02 Propane Training Program provides Ontario workers with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely handle and operate propane-fuelled heaters and torches up to 400,000 BTU/h on the job site. Approved under TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) requirements, this course meets and exceeds Ontario’s regulatory standards for propane cylinder exchange and propane-powered tool operation.

Whether you’re working in construction, maintenance, industrial operations, or warehousing, propane is a common and potentially hazardous fuel. Understanding how to handle, connect, inspect, and store propane equipment correctly is essential to protect workers and comply with Ontario law.

How is this program taught?

This program is taught using an interactive discussion method. This means that all participants will be involved in discussing the content throughout the duration of the program. This method ensures that all participants receive and understand the information.

Are there accommodations for learning disabilities?

Participants that may have a learning disability or other impairment, such as language, literacy hearing, or vision, will be accommodated. This may involve having the questions read to the participant(s) by the instructor, the assistance of an interpreter supplied by the employer, or other means. Where disabilities or impairments are identified, please advise your contact when scheduling the course so all efforts to accommodate can be made.

Who Should Attend?

This training is mandatory for:

  • Construction and maintenance workers who handle or exchange propane cylinders
  • Supervisors and site managers responsible for propane-powered equipment
  • Industrial and warehouse personnel operating propane-fuelled tools or heaters
How long is the certificate valid for?

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a TSSA-recognized Record of Training (ROT) valid for three (3) years in Ontario. Refresher training is required prior to expiry to maintain compliance and ensure ongoing competency.
