Overview

Chainsaws are a very dangerous tool, but if used correctly, they can be a fast, safe and efficient method for a multitude of tasks.

Under section 25 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers are required to provide workers with the information, instruction and supervision necessary to protect workers. In summary, this is known as the clause that requires employers to train their workers. In addition, some regulations also have specific training and use requirements for chainsaws.

Using a chainsaw may involve different work situations that involve both simple and complicated steps, depending on the task. Our chainsaw training program focus’ around the theoretical and practical skills needed to protect workers, how to inspect the chainsaw to ensure it is maintained in good condition, how to set it up and how to perform basic cuts.

This program should be taken by workers that will be performing chainsaw tasks, as well as those who are supervising workers that are using the chainsaw.

What You’ll Learn

The theory element of this program is designed to cover the basic hazard awareness when using a chainsaw, and also encompasses exercises surrounding the hierarchy to ensure that when workers identify a hazard, they know the process of how to select the appropriate controls.
